Whew! OK. A few weeks back, in prayer, I saw someone and began to pray for the person. But, in actuality, it was for more than one person. It was as if I was being shown that some people are bound in some ways by “familiarity”. I prayed it out and felt led to share it openly but I have been sitting on it for a few weeks. I believe that whomever this resonates with will know because it will confirm.
I saw a person that was in a church. Saved. Loves the Lord. Committed and Faithful. A leader (but, not always the case). God was calling the person to a different level- another place-a different assignment to continue their journey with Him. The person was struggling due to the leadership position, the connections and the years of service in the church. A sense of guilt that ran deep. Will they think I’m betraying them if I move on? Especially now?  What will people think? What if I fail? I have made commitments. What do I do about them? This is my CHURCH. I have been here for years! I’ve grown here, served here. This doesn’t make sense! The person’s loyalty and opinion of people ran SO DEEP for MAN that it was hindering the FORWARD MOVEMENT God wanted to do.
What some of us don’t realize is this can be detrimental to God’s personal plan for our lives.  I knew that although the person had grown so much under the current “umbrella”, they were still being held at a certain “place” in the minds and hearts of the people around them-even the leadership. As a result of that “label”, the person, although delivered, was still battling the labels within themselves and was wondering why they could not seem to get from under them. God was leading the person to a different place because the current place and surrounding people were putting a “cap” on the person and they literally could not see it.
Sometimes God will call you to move on from current people and/ or places because they can’t seem to get beyond “when they knew you back then”.  Even Jesus, in Mark 6:1-6 could not do any miracles among the familiar. He had to move on. It wasn’t that he didn’t love those people. I know He wanted to do more but, they just couldn’t see past his past. It wasn’t for Jesus to try to change their minds regarding Him. He had a destiny to fulfill. We have to understand that God not only changes the people we hang out with and our environments once we get saved, He does it after we are saved as well!  In and out of church!  He is continually evolving in us and wants us to flow with Him according to His plans. Why does it seem harder to flow with Him when it’s in a church environment?
I’ve been there. I think most of us have. Truth be told, it won’t be the last time for those of us that choose to follow God and not man. I pray that if this post is for you that God will give you the Holy boldness and direction on how to move forward. Be blessed!
