Lord, I pause.
I give you space, I give you room.
I let down my guard and sit before you,
Refusing to assume
That I know what’s best for me.
But I sit at your table and eat.
What you have spread out before me.
Giving you praise
While you give me your Word,
Which is my meat.
I surrender and allow you to take out
All in me that shouldn’t be.
I trade my will for yours
And in this place, I’m truly free.
Not my will but thine be done.
I decrease and allow your spirit to rise.
No longer fighting against the grain
But giving you free reign.
In this place, peace encases.
My mind and heart are sound.
For in your will and in my surrender,
Your joy and rest are found!
